EASTER FLOWERS & MUSIC
With Easter just around the corner, it’s time to let the Office know about Memorial or Thanksgiving donations for Easter flowers and/or music. These intentions will be written in the bulletin and will help create a beautiful décor and wonderful music for Easter. If you would like to be included, please complete and return the insert in your bulletin by Monday, April 10.
Our Adult Forum continues to take place between services on Sunday morning in the Parish Hall. As Lent is now upon us, our format has changed. Fr. Craig will be leading an exploration of the vows we make at baptism. Each Sunday in Lent will focus on one of the four vows, asking each of us how we can incorporate these promises into our daily lives.
This week we will explore the promise to seek and serve Christ in All persons, loving your neighbor as yourself. We will explore what it means to love our neighbor especially in an age of being polarized as a nation and a world.
ECUMENICAL LENTEN SERIES
The South County Church Women United is hosting services at many area churches on Wednesdays at Noon and will include a light lunch. All are invited to attend. The final service is:
April 5 @ Church of the Ascension
370 Main Street, Wakefield
KEEPING WATCH WITH CHRIST
This year I would like to offer the opportunity for people to keep a silent prayer vigil in the church with the Reserved Sacrament. The vigil would begin immediate following the Maundy Thursday service (April 13), go through the night and all of the next day ending with the Good Friday liturgy at 7 p.m. Shifts can be as long as you wish or as short as you wish. The only requirement is for those coming during the night that you keep watch in pairs for safety sake.
A signup sheet for this event is now posted in the parish hall. Shifts can be signed up for individually or in groups. All I hope is that we can keep watch with Christ through the night and the next day.
GUEST ROOM NEEDED
We are hosting a female priest from Food For the Poor, who will be making a presentation on Sunday, May 21. We have offered to find her a room for Saturday night and wondered who might have a Guest Room available. If you do, please call the Church Office and let us know (783-4623). Thanks.
DANTE TAVOLARO’S DEACONATE ORDINATION
Many of you know that our past Director of Ministry, Dante Tavolaro, began Seminary at Yale Divinity School in the Fall of 2014. He is graduating and being ordained to the Deaconate on Saturday, June 3 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate with him.
ASSISTANT TO THE TREASURER NEEDED
As stated at the Annual Meeting, the treasurer is looking for an assistant to help with Treasurer duties. Someone with a finance or accounting background, who uses QuickBooks software, would be ideal. Duties could involve reviewing the books at the end of the month, running reports for Vestry meetings, signing checks, etc. It would not involve a great number of hours each month once familiar with our system, but would allow the workload to be shared in case of busy schedules. Please email Roxanne Melchiori if you are interested, firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are trying to have on record everyone’s date of birth, but are missing almost half of our congregation. Please send a quick email to the Church Office (email@example.com) to give us each family member’s birthday. Thank you.
JAZZ MUSIC PROJECTS
Help is needed with several projects involving jazz music, including a jazz worship service with “The Hot Cat Jazz Band” and a jazz cabaret. If you are interested in helping out and hearing more about them please speak with Cheryl Casola, our Director of Music.
Morning Prayer is now being said Tuesday-Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
Remember that Deacon Anne Burke leads a Bible Study every Wednesday at noon. Bring a lunch if you’d like, and join them to discuss the upcoming Gospel reading.
ALTAR FLOWERS OR SANCTUARY LAMP
Please remember that there is a sign-up sheet (on the bulletin board across from the kitchen) for the whole year to request the altar flowers or the sanctuary lamp candle in memory or thanksgiving. Sign up early to get a particular Sunday of importance; maybe to remember a birthday or the anniversary of a loved one’s passing. We have open dates throughout 2017.
BAD WEATHER POLICY
In the case of future weekend storms, our policy is: If a storm is due to end by midnight on Saturday, we will cancel the 8:00 a.m. service on Sunday morning, but will have the 10:15 service. If it is still snowing on Sunday morning, both services will be cancelled.
Narragansett police will do their best to have roads near the church cleared for us, but park in the lot if possible to assist with plowing.
