St. Peter’s New-Song Project is an exciting opportunity for singers of all ages and abilities to join a choral program that combines music education and choral singing. No matter what your prior musical experience, St. Peter’s welcomes you to join the New- Song Project. The project draws its inspiration from Old Testament Psalm 96: Sing to the Lord a new song.
“We do not ask singers or their families to become part of the Episcopal Church,” explains Cheryl Casola who is Director of Music at St. Peter’s. “This is an opportunity to be part of a Christian community that enjoys the best of music and fellowship. The purpose of the program is simply to support the musical experience,” she adds.
“Even if you haven’t sung since high school glee club,” says Cheryl Casola, “we welcome you to join the St. Peter’s New-Song Project. Consider joining as a family. We provide space for youth choristers to do homework while their parents are in choir rehearsal.”
The St. Peter’s New-Song Project is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), a worldwide – and world reknowned – chorister training program based in the United Kingdom. Each summer, RSCM choristers from all over the U.S. spend a week of “choir camp” on the campus of Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.
