Annual Meeting Recap

Sunday's annual meeting went well.  I am grateful for the opportunity to revisit some of our joys and successes in 2009, as well as talk a little bit about where we're headed and how we might get there.  You can listen to my report by visiting the Podcasts page.

I think we are headed in the right direction.  We are developing the sorts of mission, education and worship opportunities that are needed to deepen our faith and grow us into the disciples I believe God is calling us to become.  But as I cautioned in my sermon on Sunday, we cannot allow ourselves to be guided by our cynicism and uncertainty, due to past failures.  We must be wary of spending too much time evaluating what we think is possible.  After all, Jesus doesn't worry about what we think we can do.  Jesus calls us to do great things, and empowers us to accomplish them, whether we think we can, or not.  This is God we're talking about!  If we genuinely believe God is asking something from us, something that advances the kingdom, then God will help see to it that it is accomplished...whether we "can" on our own not.

I can't wait to see what we become in 2010 and beyond.  If we strive to respond to God's ambitious call, its bound to be something special.
