St. Peter’s Preschool stresses the value of play to help a young child’s cognitive development: learning and play are synonymous.

The program is designed to challenge the imagination and stimulate spiritual, social, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Our hands-on activities allow your child to touch, create, pretend, explore and discover in a light, relaxed, fun-centered and loving atmosphere.

Your child will be encouraged to appreciate and respect God’s world.

We feel it is especially important for a child to develop a sense of self-worth. We enhance self-esteem by focusing on a child’s positive qualities. What can your child do particularly well? What makes your child unique or special? Our goal is for your child to develop a sense of pride and independence. A self-assured child grows into a self-assured adult!

Our program also stresses your child’s social development, motor skills, emotional development and good work habits.

Other skills focus on perception: eye-hand coordination, color/shape recognition, sound recognition, and observation of likenesses and differences.

Your child will also learn:

• social studies through field trips, guest speakers, and the celebration of holidays.
• language arts by participating in oral expression and comprehension activities.
• the foundations of math skills by studying shapes, counting, sorting and classifying concrete objects, and through the use of measurement concepts.
• about nature though learning about animals and shells.
• art and music by singing, creative expression, drawing and dance.
