The Youth Formation program at Saint Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church strives to provide young people in kindergarten through high school with meaningful opportunities for worship, learning, service, and fellowship as they grow in their Christian faith.
The Sunday Morning Education Hour runs from 9:00am to 10:00am, September to May, when public schools are in session. On three-day weekends (Columbus Day for example) and during school breaks, there is an intergenerational program with a light breakfast for all in the Parish Hall. There is no educational program during Christmas Week or on Easter Sunday. In the summer young children are invited to join Vacation Bible School at Peace Dale Congregational Church.
There are four classes for young people from kindergarten through high school.

8:00am Said Eucharist with Sermon
10:15 Choral Eucharist with choirs and sermon
Young people in 3rd grade and above are encouraged to join the Acolyte Program and assist in leading the congregation in worship. Young people are invited to become ushers and readers at the services.
Learning – Classes center around the stories of the Bible with class being asked to deepen their understanding of God’s Word at a level that is appropriate to their age. The traditions and teachings of the Episcopal Church are incorporated into the lessons. Classes are intended to be interactive with hands on activities for the younger children and discussions for the older children. Each classroom is equipped with a SMART TV to allow for direct access to resources available on the internet.
Service – Throughout the year young people are invited to participate in service experiences in the community and the parish. In 2015-2016 there were opportunities to serve at the Community Market, the Narragansett Coastal Clean-up Day, the Thanksgiving Market, making Valentines for shut-ins, the December Bazaar, the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, and St. Peter’s Festival.
Fellowship – Fun times together! Whether in the classroom, the Parish Hall, the sanctuary, or outdoors, the goal is to have fun together and build community amongst all in the Parish. There are a variety of programs throughout the year designed to promote friendship and community: All Hallow’s Eve, Advent IV Pageant, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Intergenerational events on Sunday Morning
All young people are invited and encouraged to join in the Youth Formation Program.
Adults who would like to grow in their faith and their understanding of the Scriptures by serving as Youth Formation Leaders/Teachers are encouraged to join in the fun. Speak to the Director of Ministry if you would like to participate.
