Baptism

At St. Peter’s by-the-Sea, we believe Baptism is about the washing away of our sins through the grace of God and the rite of initiation into the household of God and a commissioning for Christian ministry Thus, Baptism is not something we enter into lightly but only after consideration of one’s own relationship with God and the Church. As you prepare, or prepare to have your child baptized, we ask you to consider the following five vows you will make before God and the congregation:

If you desire to be baptized or have your child baptized at St. Peter’s please call the parish office at 401-783-4623. We will be glad to speak with you about baptismal dates as well as a time to meet with our priest.

Funerals

According to the Book of Common Prayer, “A Christian is born from the church.” At St. Peter’s, all funeral service is a service of resurrection and officiated in accordance with the Book of Common Prayer, after consultation with a member of the clergy and our Director of Music. St. Peter’s accommodates individuals who plan to be interred fully (i.e. with casket) and those who wish to be cremated with their ashes to be scattered at a pre-determined location.

As every funeral is personal and requires a great deal of thought, it is recommended individuals plan their services in advance. Our clergy are happy to meet with you and guide you through this very personal process.
